New thermodynamic data

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I am working with minerals containing As and B (cahnite, teruggite and ulexite). My problem is that the database dont have them, and the data on internet (e.g.thereda) dont have them neither.

Can I add these minerals to the database by an alternative way? I need to see saturation indexes and to model precipitation by evaporation too...

Thanks all for reading my post,

Laura.

Hi Laura,

You'll need an equilibrium constant K in order to calculate the saturation index of your minerals. You might find this in the literature (the value itself or a log K) for a reaction involving the mineral, or you might find information about the free energy of formation of the mineral, which you can use to calculate the equilibrium constant.

Hope this helps,
