I am trying to model precipitation of pyrite in a groundwater system, and cannot find an appropriate rate constant. Rickard (1997) gives a constant for pyrite formation from oxidation of FeS in terms of the concentration of FeS in L mol-1 s-1, but I am unsure whether I can model this mechanism in React, or how to convert this constant back to surface area units for use in the model.
For my purposes, I could use a "general" precipitation rate for pyrite in mol/cm2 sec. I was given 3e-14 mol/cm2 sec for this, but have no reference, and do not know if it would apply to a low temperature situation.
Any help would be useful. Thanks.
