O2 activity is expressed as SO42-/H2S

Hi Yzdm,

 

That means the ratio of SO4--to HS- would set the redox state. If you look at the reaction between H2S and SO42-:

 

H2S + 2 O2 - = SO42- + 2 H+

 

At a constant pH, the ratio of activity of the sulfate and hydrogen sulfide may be expressed as function of O2 activity.

Yes, you are right. It was a typo; the correct balanced reaction is:

H2S + 2 O2 = 2 H+ + SO4--
