thschlos
Hello, I am currently using React to perform multicomponent mineral speciation calculations using the Reed and Spycher (1984) method. However, I have multiple water analyses lacking aluminum concentration data. Is there a way to calculate Al concentration data using React to force equilibration with an Al-bearing mineral (say, microcline) over a specified temperature range (a la Pang and Reed, 1998)? Thanks, Trevor
Brian Farrell
Hi Trevor, You can certainly assume equilibrium with an Al mineral to solve for the concentration of dissolved Al species. Just swap in your mineral (microcline) for Al+++ from the Basis pane and specify its mass (though the actual amount will not affect your results). Generally for minerals you specify a free mass. Hope this helps, Brian Farrell Aqueous Solutions LLC
