TBush
Hi, I wonder if someone can explain to me the difference between bulk and inert volume? I am finding it a bit confusing? Thanks.Regards,Tim
Brian Farrell
Hi Tim, The bulk volume is the volume of a nodal block in X1t or X2t, or if you're using SpecE8 or React (which are basically one-node) it's the extent of your system. It's the sum of the fluid, mineral, and non-reactive mineral (inert) volumes. The inert volume is zero by default. It only comes up when you set up your models a certain way. For more info, you might check out sections 5.29 and 5.45 in the GWB Reference Manual for explanations of the inert and porosity commands. Section 2.12 (Porosity evolution) in the Reactive Transport Modeling Guide should also be helpful. Regards, Brian
